North Korea is infamous for its leader and the absolute control he has over his people's lives. Kim Jong Un and his team of scientists have been testing missiles for a long time, but recently, they reached a new milestone.
Currently, nuclear scientists in North Korea are rapidly testing new missiles daily, and the ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile), which was launched recently, poses a great threat to the world and especially the United States.Allegedly, North Korea claims that it launched its first intercontinental ballistic missile on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. This means the missile is capable of reaching the U.S. Although we surpass North Korea in firepower, their missiles could do considerable damage if launched at us.
As of now, results from the recent missile launch show that it traveled more than 580 miles within 37 minutes. After calculating the total range of the missile, experts concluded the missile could travel a total of 4,160 miles from Panghyon, North Korea. In other words, the missile can attack all of Alaska since it's only a couple hundred miles away from the coast.
Tensions are high with North Korea possessing a new threat to the entire world. In response to their ICBM, the U.S. and South Korea jointly conducted missile drills on the Fourth of July.
The Trump administration is now under extreme pressure on what to do regarding North Korea's missile situation. One option a North Korean diplomat proposed involved the U.S. withdrawing their soldiers in return of a moratorium. A moratorium is a temporary prohibition of an activity. In this case, North Korea would freeze their missile testing. However, the U.S. denied the deal as White House officials say, they "are not interested in any proposal that would require the United States to lift military or economic pressure on the North, even in return for a moratorium on tests."
With these dangerous intercontinental ballistic missiles, Kim Jong Un will be able to conduct a missile attack wherever, whenever and however he wants. So where does this leave us? Are we really safe anywhere? What does this mean for the future of the United States of America? And how vulnerable are we now, with an international missile sitting in the hands of a maniac?
This leaves the USA in an extremely vulnerable situation as an attack might be imminent at anytime in the near future once North Korean missiles can reach the continental United States.
