12 Ways To Turn Galentine's Day Into Galentine's Year

It's (a few days after) Galentine's Day! Created by the queen of waffles, ambition, and friendship goals -- Leslie Knope. Galentine's Day was first introduced as a fictional holiday on the show "Parks and Recreation," but the idea resonated deeply with women everywhere. What could possibly be better than an entire day to celebrate all the great girlfriends we have, and all they have done for us? We may finally have an answer. How about Galentine's Year? So, here's some ideas of how to make the most of your time with your ~lady friends~ in 2016.

1. Go to the club and dance whenever you can.

There's nothing better than grabbing your closest girl friends and dancing together to "Girls Just Want To Have Fun." Make a plan to all head out to the local bar or club and stay together all night dancing your asses off.

2. Go out to (or make) brunch every weekend.

There is nothing classier than going to brunch with all your ladies. Grab some waffles like Queen Leslie would, and drink a mimosa while you're at it.

3. Compliment what you love the most about each other.

Nothing is better than receiving a compliment, especially if it comes sincerely from a true friend. Make each other's day and go on a compliment spree for the "beautiful, rule-breaking moth" in your life.

4. Talk about each others love lives.

Or lack-there-of. No matter what is happening in your group's love lives, make sure you are there on Galentine's (and every day) to chat about all romantic endeavors they are experiencing. The good, the bad, and the hideously ugly.

5. Stand up to the ~haters~.

Someone hates my best friend? Not on my watch. Make sure you are there for your friends and support them even if they are in the wrong (to a point, not to a fault).

6. Do something your friend wants to do.

Even though you have no passion for the saxophone, you should at least be willing to dance along. Joining your friends for an adventure with their favorite activities will allow you to grow closer, even if it isn't exactly your idea of a great time.

7. Acknowledge each others accomplishments.

Today is the day to brag about your friends right to their face. They are awesome, smart and beautiful, and today is the day to praise each other unconditionally. I can cheers to that.

8. Be honest with one another.

Secrets and white lies can be seriously poisonous to a friendship, make sure to be as honest as you can possibly be when it comes to your relationship with your best friends.

9. Spoil them a little bit.

Because who doesn't love little tokens of love from your bestie?

10. Take care of your besties when they're feeling sick.

There is nothing better than support from your sista's when you feel like you are on your death bed. Plus, a little extra love and attention never hurt anyone.

11. Help them through rough patches.

Because that's what friends are for.

12. Always remind them that you appreciate them.

I know you think it's implied (and it is) but it's always nice to hear it out loud. So be sure to tell your ladies that you love them.

So really there is only one question left:

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
