FX recently revealed six teasers for season 6 of American Horror Story on YouTube and Facebook. The trailers were initially released on Snapchat, gradually revealing all 6 within the past week.
Usually FX reveals the themes of AHS way beforehand, but for some reason, it is taking longer to reveal the theme of the upcoming season.
Even though the storyline for Season 6 not yet been revealed, series stars Lady Gaga, Denis O’Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, and Matt Bomer are said to return.
American Horror Story creator, Ryan Murphy, has previously said all of the seasons are somehow related to each other in one way or another.
“The clue for season six is not just in the material we're doing now; it's from way back in season one,” he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter back in October 2015.
General Manager of FX Network, John Landgraf, said that Season 6 will take place in two separate time periods, but he didn't really give any specifics. Fans of the series have been trying to figure out what the short promotional teasers are trying to say. The network seems to intentionally keep things a secret, especially by using the logo "?6" (a question mark and the season number – 6 ) in every promo.
Here’s a look at the promos from FX's Youtube Channel:
Promo 1 – "What’s Cooking"
This creepy still-frame of a farm house was the first promotion released last week. The sound of a chainsaw and the scream makes viewers believe that it has a “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” theme.
Promo 2 – "Sunset Stroll"
This promo shows three demonic-like people dressed as farmers. It relates back to the farm house making everyone believe it is going to have a hillbilly/farmer type of background.
Promo 3 –"Post Op"
This promo is the most graphic of all of them. It shows a man getting his head stapled.
Promo 4 – "Lullaby"
This one shows a crib with the cries of a baby. In Season 5, Lady Gaga’s character, The Countess, had a demonic vampire baby, and the duration of season one, the mother is pregnant and later gives birth to a demonic child.
Promo 5 – "The Descent"
This one shows someone running down stairs into the dark.
Promo 6 – Milli Crossing
This one shows a millipede crawling over someones face. It's hard to say if this is to scare someone who is frightened of bugs or if it's trying to say that millipedes are typically found on farms, which they are.
All these small previews are in some way or another, giving hints as to what the new season is about. The teasers are literally teasing the audience. Obviously they want to keep the everyone speculating, which creates a new excitement for AHS fans.
The new seasons of this series usually premieres in October of every year right before Halloween, so that’s what any audience member would have expected this year. However, after a longer wait for the premiere date this year, the station surprised us by announcing that American Horror Story will premiere on September 14 at 10 p.m. ET or 7 p.m. PST. Giving plenty of time to thoroughly prepare for Halloween time.
