Dear Future Children

You, my children are what I've been waiting for my entire life.

You give me purpose when I feel as if I can no longer go on.

The thought of you not existing breaks my heart.

I can't wait to show you the world. Trips to the zoo in the middle of summer, melting into my shoes. Going camping in the woods and exploring nature. Teaching you to fish. Heck, I'm even excited to teach you to potty.

As your mother, I vow that you will be loved unconditionally. Nothing you could ever do will make me love you less. I may not agree with every decision you make, but none the less I will love you. You will always have a roof over your head, food in you belly, and love in your heart. I may make mistakes along the road, but just know mommy tried.

Always know that you are very special to me. As a young adult, mommy thought you weren't possible. I thought I would never experience the miracle of life. At 23 I found out that you were a possibility. From that day on you were all that I could think about.

I can assure you that mommy's life was made better by you.

As the child of a lady like me, you will learn respect, honor, and kindness. I hope to teach you to grow into humans who change the world. I want the best for you. I can't fathom the thought of you being a turd head. I can only hope you take what I give you and make it grow.

Your grandma and grandpa will spoil you rotten. They will give and give until mommy throws a fit. The will shower you in love and affection. They both have been patiently waiting on your arrival. They had plans for you before I had plans for myself. They have lived for the moment to hold you. They have been dreaming about hugging and kissing you. They have been loving you before you came along

You will have many aunts and uncles whom will die to be around you. You can never have too many people love you. They will also have a hand in spoiling you rotten and teaching you things. They will help you grow and flourish. They will love.

You will have cousins who will be more like siblings. You guys will run and play sand learn together. They will protect you from pain and heartache. They will show you things mommy can't teach and that's perfectly ok. Go ahead and run free in the yard and make up games to play. Enjoy being a kid while you can.

Mommy wants you to know that life would suck without you. You bring a twinkle to my eye. I can't wait for our adventures and our family meals. I can't wait to hold you and stare into those loving eyes. I can't wait to be your mom.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
