As college students, we know that making connections plays a huge role in the framework of a successful career. The technology we have today makes the challenge of connections easier. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and more have changed the game when it comes to connecting with people. However, there is something that these social media outlets lack: human interaction. This generation seems to spend more time on a computer or their hands glued to a phone than physical meetings and connections in person. Now, there is a solution to this problem: FuseMe.

What is it?

FuseMe is a new, free app created by Butler University student, Brodie Meyer, along with his brother, Benjamin, and mother, Vicki. When you first download the app, you upload personal information about you and your social media accounts to your FuseMe profile. This includes Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, LinkedIn, Venmo, email and phone number, along with your education and work experience.

What are the features?

On the map screen, you will find "FuseMe locations." At these various locations, you are able to view another person's education and work experience, but you cannot connect or talk to them. If you find that you want to get to know a person, you can walk up to them and ask to "fuse." This is done by taking out your phone and tapping them together. Your "digital business cards" are then transferred to each other. The fusing digitizes the handshake and reinforces the idea of truly interacting.

How can you use FuseMe to benefit your life and career?

Take a job fair for example. You could meet with potential employers, "fuse" with them and transfer your resume immediately to their phone. Or did you change your number? Don't worry. Update your FuseMe profile so your connections will have your new number, while you still have your connections' numbers. FuseMe is designed to make your career and social life easier.

What is the end goal?

The goal of this innovative app is to provide actual value to people's lives by helping them build genuine relationships that lead to an advancement of their career or social friendships. This app forces you to interact with people face-to-face. It is a creative way of mixing your social life and professional life into one convenient platform.

Genuine, transparent connections: FuseMe is the future of networking. So, college students, get on this.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
