When I was a high school student, I constantly found myself bored during the summer. I'm from a small town, and there are not many places for teenagers to go and have fun. All of my friends and I, and even people from different schools, would hang out at the church or the local Winn-Dixie in town. We stood around and talked until our curfew rolled around or we drove around town wasting our gas. Since these were just about the only things we did, we made the best of our summer nights and had tons of fun enjoying one another's company. Here’s a list of activities and events that I believe will make your summer a little more interesting and fun:
1. Go to a movie theater or have a movie night with friends:
No matter the genre of the movie, you are guaranteed to make memories with your friends or family. Personally, my family and I enjoy a good comedy or an action movie. Not only do I enjoy the movie, but I also savor the tasty, buttery popcorn with my large Dr. Pepper.
2. Go bowling:
I have the greatest time when I go bowling. Since I am a very competitive person, it is always fun to compete against your friends or family. The neon bowling shoes you have to wear may be out of style, but if you look around, everyone else is wearing them, too.
3. Go to a sports event:
If you love or enjoy watching sports, you would definitely enjoy attending a sports event. Watching a sport in person is so much more fun and entertaining than watching it on television. Joining the crowd in cheers is always my favorite part.
4. Go to a concert:
Concerts are a blast! Yes, concerts may be loud or crowded or maybe even both, but some of my fondest memories were made going to concerts with my friends. Singing the lyrics to your favorite songs with your favorite people is amusing.
5. Go fishing:
It is the anticipation that makes fishing so much fun. You never know how big or small of a fish you will catch. Feeling a fish hooked on your line will instantly give you an adrenaline rush.
6. Karaoke:
Whether you’re blessed with beautiful vocal cords or your voice resembles nails on a chalkboard, karaoke is always a good time.
7. Go to a play:
One of my best friends has performed in numerous plays, and I really enjoy watching him do what he loves. The thrill of watching live actors and actresses is something that watching movies on television can’t give you.
8. Go camping:
Pitch a tent, build a fire, and make s’mores. What could be more fun? Gather around the campfire and enjoy the beauties of nature surrounding you.
9. Take a beach or lake trip:
The beach and the lake are my two happy places. Nothing is more relaxing than hearing the waves crash on the shore at the beach, soaking up the rays at the lake, or taking a dip in the water.
10. Play miniature golf:
The different obstacles you face while playing miniature golf makes the game fun and challenging. There’s no better feeling than scoring a hole in one.
I hope this list will help you when you are pondering about something fun to do during your summer days or nights. Summer only comes around once a year so make the best of it with the people you care most about.
