11 Fun Activities To Do In Colorado This Summer
Smart Denver Relestate

Well folks, summer has just arrived and you know what that means - lazy days at the pool, late night bonfires, and sleepovers under the stars. If you’re lucky enough to spend your summer in the beautiful state of Colorado (like me!), then there are plenty of great activities that can make this summer the best one yet.

1. Attend a Red Rocks concert

Yes, it can be a little pricey, but the experience is definitely worth it. Don’t forget your flower headband. I heard they don’t let you in without one. And the less clothes you wear, the better.

2. Workout at Red Rocks

This is the cheaper option if you’re broke (again, like me!), but still want to experience Red Rocks.

3. Go for a hike

There are plenty of amazing trails in Colorado to explore. Search for one near you on Google, grab a friend and spend the afternoon walking around in the blistering sun while secretly wishing you were watching Netflix. Then make sure you get a picture for Insta. You didn’t really go hiking unless everyone knows you went hiking. #nature #beautiful #blessed

4. Water World

‘Nuff said.

5. Go for a late night drive and look at the stars

You don’t really have to live in Colorado to do this, but I’m running out of ideas and I’m only on #5. There are some places in Colorado where the stars are extra bright and twinkly, so just drive around until you find them. This activity is even more fun if you go with your significant other. But if you’re forever single (again, again like me!), then it will probably make you sad as you stare up at the vast expanse of space, wondering how with 7 billion people in the world you are still alone. Ah, solitude.

6. Go camping

Just kidding, don’t do that. That sounds terrible.

7. Go to Elitch Gardens Theme Park

Spend the day at Elitch Gardens Theme Park in downtown Denver with all of your closest friends eating cotton candy, playing games and riding roller coasters into the sunset! Elitch Gardens is home to the Tower of Doom, an intense thrill ride for only the most daring of all daredevils. However, I heard someone got their feet cut off on a ride like that, soooo do that at your own risk.

8. Visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

This is only fun if you document the whole experience on Snapchat. No one actually cares that you went and they’ll probably tap past every single video of that giraffe that you posted, but at least you had fun! Right?

9. Attend a Rockies game

Nothing says summer like America’s favorite past time – drinking beer. Which you can do a lot of at professional baseball games! Put on your purple and black, forget about last season’s record, and enjoy some average to very below average baseball. Gooooo Rockies!

10. Hike to Hanging Lake

I know, another hike. But you live in Colorado - you’re supposed to be outdoorsy. Also, this was a thing last summer, so I’m not sure if it’s cool anymore but I’m going to put it anyways. It’s too pretty to leave out.

11. Nap

If all else fails and you can’t think of anything fun to do, just sleep your summer away! Summer is a time to relax and unwind, and there is no better way to do that than with a nap. You’re going to be tired after all of those hikes, anyways.

Colorado really is a beautiful state with tons of fun activities to fill your summer days. Now, you’ll have at least 11 good days packed with nonstop excitement! Probably more, depending on how many naps you take. Happy summer, friends!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
