In case you missed it over break, “Frozen” has climbed to the top of the box office sales for seven weeks in a row. But the question is, why?
Who would have thought that a Disney movie targeted towards young children would catch the hearts of all age groups? As someone who has seen the movie three times, I can say this movie brings the full package.
The soundtrack is one of the best I’ve heard in a long time. Idina Menzel’s “Let it Go” is the backbone song of the movie. Kristen Bell comes out of nowhere with a beautiful voice that leads a majority of the movie. It's been a long time since Disney has had this much success with the soundtrack of one of their films.
The unique story line also contributes greatly. Instead of focusing on maybe a typical movie relationship between a prince and a princess, we see the struggling bond between two sisters. Along with that, we see the dedication between a man and his reindeer, and the family that takes them in.
From beginning to end, the movie truly is a masterpiece. When the story comes full circle, it's nearly impossible not to want to watch the whole movie over again. In all reality, we see a lot of female empowerment in this film without being too obvious. We see true love from a completely different angle. I love this movie, and I highly recommend it to everyone.
Watch to watch for:
"Ride Along"- Ice Cube and Kevin Hart team up for the classic "buddy cop" film. Fans of Hart's stand up comedy will probably be able to squeeze a laugh or two out of this one. Jan.17
"That Awkward Moment"- Zac Efron stars in a movie about three best friends who all end up at that one "awkward moment" when dating where they have to figure out where the relationship is going. Jan. 31
"The Monuments Men"- If you enjoyed "Argo" then this is a can't-miss film for you. With an all-star cast led by George Clooney, Matt Damon and Bill Murray, this World War II film looks to be a hit. Feb. 7
"Non-Stop"- You'd think bad guys would learn to stop messing with Liam Neeson at this point, but he's back in action putting his "very particular set of skills" as an air marshal fighting aboard an international flight. Feb. 28
"300: Rise of an Empire"- Not much explanation needed. The sequel to the ultra-popular "300" promises to bring even more intense, bloody, slow motion fighting than we know what to do with. March 7
"Neighbors"- The always funny Seth Rogen faces off with a fratty Zac Efron in this battle between next door neighbors. Good luck not laughing maniacally at the redband trailer for this comedy in theaters for the summer. May 9
