Nobody wants to be unhappy, right? In life, we can mostly all agree that the number one goal is to be happy. Although, if we all want the best for ourselves, why are so many people prone to sabotaging their own happiness?

It’s a harsh reality many people, myself included, face. I want to be happy. Yet my actions prove otherwise. Why would we do this to ourselves? From someone who has a record of self-sabotaging habits, I can tell you that is almost an impossible question to answer. You see, the subconscious can be very powerful.

I have many wonderful friends, who I absolutely love and adore. So, tell me, subconscious- why is it that I find myself constantly pushing them away? I truly love spending time with them, so why is it everytime they want to go out my first instinct is to stay home? How many missed girls nights will it take to ruin my friendships?

Along with friendships, another factor many people would include in their happiness is a healthy relationship. Unfortunately, this is a foreign concept to me. Similar to my friends, I have formed some great relationships with some great boys. Things will be going great, until I’m almost too happy for comfort, and I feel it’s time to start pushing away, just as I did with many of my friends.

Not only do I push away people from my life, but I also push away and avoid responsibility. A factor that goes hand in hand with this impairment is procrastination. Time and time again I find myself putting off or completely abandoning a task that I’m aware is significant. Why would I do this?

Though I have been asking myself through the course of this article why I am constantly acting in a way that sabotages my own well-being, after reflecting over some of my actions, I believe I have come to terms with some reasons for my subconscious damage. Reflecting on these reasons behind my behavior, I am glad to say I have come up with ways to stop self-sabotage. Beginning with self-awareness. Recognizing toxic behavior is the first step to finding a solution. If you can acknowledge the fact that your actions are bad for you- act on it. We can always help ourselves be better. Another essential: self-love. You must love yourself to accept the same from the universe. You are worthy of happiness and you should truly believe it.

If you find yourself picking up self-destructing habits, please do yourself a favor and reflect upon your actions. Recognize what you are doing to yourself and how to change. You deserve to be happy. Nothing- not even yourself- should stand in the way of your happiness.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
