Why best friends are more important than relationships:

1. Your best friend is going to love you until the end of time. Unless you're an adult, the statistics aren't lined up for you to marry the boy/girl you met in English class.

2. When you get advice from your best friend, it's for your best interest, not your relationship's best interest. Your significant other, I'm sure, wants you to be happy, but they'll have more bias than a best friend.

3. You never have to put effort into your appearance for your best friend. You can look like the forgotten troll from under a bridge and they'll still love you.

4. You don't have to pretend to like your best friend's friends like you do in a relationship. You probably hate the same people, too.

5. Along with that, if someone hurt you, you'll always have someone to back you up and hate them with.

6. They know all your embarrassing stories from your family and still want to hang out with you.

7. They'll always tell you when you look ugly in your clothes, or if it's a hat day.

8. Their wardrobe is basically yours. Whether you left your gym shorts in your buddy's car, or you took your friend's dress because the color looks WAY better on you, you always share.

9. You don't have to text your best friend all the time or see them for them to love you. They just do.

10. FRIENDS will be your shoulder to cry on, taxi, stylist, worst enemy, therapist, parent, hype-man, fan section and sibling, no matter what.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
