We all *hopefully* have friends, but within the friend group, there are different type of friends. There are people who you call "friends," or rather acquaintances, and then there are your real friends who you can count on. You are impossibly close to these people and wouldn't know how to live your life without them.
The only way to tell these two apart is to go through this list of events that may have happened and can determine who is a friend or not:
1. As soon as you open your door, they are coming in.
They know they can come in. They know you are going to let them in. Just skip to the part when they are lounging on the couch and telling you about their gossip.
2. You can speak to one another through facial expressions.
There are no words needed when you guys are sitting across the room. You got facial expressions and if you know your friend that well...you will get the message.
3. You know you can't stop being friends because they know too much.
You tell your friend everything that ever happened to you. Those secrets could easily be used against you. If you guys ever stop being friends, remember the Pretty Little Liars theme song. Two can't keep a secret if one of them is dead.
4. One word can have you both in stitches.
This is a joke that only two of you would know. The word just brings memories back to those good times. Problem is...no one knows what you guys are going on about. Strictly, you had to be there moment.
5. Your friend will scream at you from across campus.
It doesn't matter the distance between you guys. You will always scream and wave at them to get their attention. Acquaintances would wait to get closer to catch up with you later but for friends, later always means now. It also doesn't matter where you are. I would silently scream and wave at my friend from across the library. That is my friend.
6. What is yours is theirs and what is theirs is yours.
There is no this is mine is the friendship. That shirt that you still have because you borrowed two weeks ago, well they never asked for it back yet. Soon you guys trade so much stuff that you don't remember who is whose. Oh well. You aren't friends for nothing.
