When You're Best Friends Forever...For Real

I have had my share of “best friends” before, but they never seemed to work out. I’m usually one to stick to being friends with guys because I find their friendship more loyal, so I surprised myself when I joined a sorority, but if I hadn’t I wouldn’t have ever met my best friend. My best friend is not like the other best friends I’ve had before; she's loyal and she understands me more than anyone I’ve ever known. We’ve been through a lot together and we’ve only been best friends for eight months, but these are the reasons I know she’s my best friend forever for real.

1. Taste in company

More often than not, my best friend and I have the same like/dislike for the same people. We sometimes disagree, but at the end of the day, if said person does something distasteful, then they automatically go to the bottom of the list.


2. Going out is never boring

I’ve had besties that go out with me that end up just being a drag. My real best friend and I never cease to have an amazing time wherever we are, even if the party isn’t lit. The biggest lesson I’ve learned from past best friends is that only the boring get bored.

3. What boyfriend?

If my best friend or I ever got a boyfriend, we would literally not be able to live without each other. The mere idea of spending more time with someone that isn't one another is terrifying especially if that other person is a boy.


4. Crying is contagious

Whether we’re drunk or sober, if one is crying, then the other is crying too. It’s easy to tell your friend to suck it up and get over it or that that boy is not worth crying over, but it takes a special kind of best friend to empathize with you and mirror your emotions. It takes an even more special best friend to cry with you at a party in front of all your friends or at a crowded bar.


5. Unbreakable breaks

Sometimes spending too much time with someone can make you go crazy, even if that person is your best friend. My best friend and I didn’t talk for over two months, but it ended up bringing us closer together. We also learned that we really cannot live without each other.

So there you have it. Only five reasons, but five reasons all the same as to why my current best friend will be my best friend forever for real.
