Your Friday Night Squad as Told By The Kardashians

A go-to guide for figuring out who you REALLY are on a Friday night

Thanks to my recent investment in the Sunday night spectacle that is Keeping Up with The Kardashians, as well my occasional Friday night ventures out, I have noticed parallels between my squad and the Kardashians. Being the incredibly accomplished analytical psychologist that I am, I feel incredibly qualified to draw the comparisons between the Kardashians and Friday Night Squads.

Kris Jenner

Every squad has a mom, so it's only fitting that the squad mom be Kris, the matriarch of the Kardashian clan. She’s the one that has a plan, a schedule and a place for you to crash if need be. She’s been checking Toga and Facebook for those event invites. She leads the pre-game, but once the party gets started she sticks to her schedule.

Kim Kardashian

Kim is the girl that knows what she’s doing when she gets to the party. She leads the squad, whether that be to get drinks, to dance or to meet friends. She’s got the connections, and she’s there to have fun, lots of it.

Kendall Jenner

You know her, you love her, you hate her. She’s the girl that will always look amazing regardless. She can take five minutes to get ready or five hours, but her looks will always slay no matter what.

Kylie Jenner

It’s tough being the Kylie of the squad. Kylie never really feels the parties that she’s at, so she just spends time on Snapchat ensuring that her looks are still banging. It's not her night, so you can probably find her on a couch, checking her latest Instapic.

Khloe Kardashian

You KNOW Khloe, and by that I mean everybody knows her. Seriously, you meet 50 new people whenever you go out with her. No matter the circumstances, there’s always someone new to meet when you’re with this one.

Kourtney Kardashian

Kourtney never really wants to go out, she just likes to be nice. Ideally, she would be in her bed at 8:45 p.m. to make sure she’s up to make that weird avocado drink she’s been obsessed with for the past month or go to that farmer’s market that stocks organic kale.

Every squad you go out with will fall into these archetypal roles, be it with guys, girls, or a mix of the two. The only thing that can be difficult is keeping up with these Kardashians.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
