As my first year of college comes to an end, it is good to reflect back on how I have grown and what I have learned. It was a year of firsts. My first frat parties, my first 300-student lectures, and my first experience of communal bathrooms. The people I met, the clubs I joined, and the classes I (barely) finished made my freshman year unforgettable. Here are some of my freshman struggles, memories and firsts -- as told by Disney.

1. Being lost during the first week of classes

You end up wandering around campus with your eyes glued to your phone, where you strategically saved a photo of the campus map, hoping no one thinks you're a freshman. (In reality, everyone knows.)

2. When you pull your first all-nighter and feel like a champ for turning in that 10-page essay on time

Then you proceed to take a 12-hour nap.

3. The first time it rained on campus and everything flooded

Literally could have to take a canoe through the freshman quad that day.

4. When everybody wants to go out to dinner three times a week

Everyone falls in love with the Inner Harbor and its restaurants.

5. Walking into your first frat party like...

We would stroll up with our list of brothers we knew, a good ratio, and prayers that we'd get in.

6. Your first time at Sterling Brunch (God bless the FFC)

If you wake up early, you can go for breakfast and lunch!

7. Remembering that the rec center exists after said Sterling Brunch

8. Going to HellWell for a sinus infection, and instead being told you are making it up.

Who doesn't love the professionals over there?

9. When you waste a meal swipe on Late Night and they don't have chicken tenders or tater tots

Why else do you even go?

10. The moment when you haven't done laundry in three weeks, and you are beginning to wear whatever you can find

Some people get really creative just to avoid laundry...

11. Finding out you failed an exam, and then remembering what a curve is

Are you really a Hopkins student if you haven't had a meltdown over a test?

12. When classes were canceled after the snow storm (not quite Disney, but who doesn't enjoy seeing Channing Tatum dressed as Elsa?)

Let it snow!

13. Hearing about Spring Fair for the first time

And yes, the weekend exceeded all your expectations.

14. Finishing your first year of college and realizing you still have three more to go

But I wouldn't want to spend them anywhere else!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
