Disclaimer: If you are the parent of a college student and don't want to know what your student could potentially be doing in their free time, do not continue this article.

If you are a girl who knows fraternity boys or have been in a sorority, you know exactly what Boys Bid Day is. This day only happen two times in a scholastic year and to most people it is just like Christmas( maybe even better). This type of bid day only happens for Fraternities who are apart of the IFC.

Boys Bid Day is the best day for Sorority Girls. Let me give you the rundown: Soro girls and Frat boys wake up really early in the morning, and it is on. Mimosas with your breakfast or a jack and coke to get your juices flowing. Long story short, if you are in the know, you know what's goes down.

I don't know how it is at different universities, but around noon, every fraternity member and potential new member or PNM will meet a designated location, whether it be on or off campus. Certain places would call this time period "jump," it is exactly what it sounds.

For instance, say there are 10 Fraternities, each get there own little "area" at the location, their PNM's will then be brought into the location jumping. These young men will jump, or hop or what have you, until they get to the fraternity they got a bid for.

For those who do not know what a bid is, it's sort of like an invitation. A bid is given in fraternities and sororities no matter the council. Everyone who tries and gets in will receive some form of this. When given a bid, the person who received it is given (maybe a minute or two to decide if they would like to accept). This aspect may differ depending on the councils.

Anyway, back to Bid Day after the young men have gotten to their new brotherhood and taken some photos, they move to a new location. Now, this location is where the fun really begins. When you are a guest, mainly girls or guy friends (not in apart of IFC), you can move from location to location and "hang out" with the different frats.

Depending on the Fraternity you can end up in a club or a bar or a house - which is fully stocked and rented out for a couple of hours or for the whole day. After a little bit of partying, everyone will decide they need a break. After the Jump event lasts from about 1-5 pm, with a 3-4 hour break before they start back up again at about 10 or 11 p.m.

My only advice for people participating in this day is be well rested and stay hydrated through out the day, because you never know what they will lead to - each semesters is crazier than the last.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
