21 Thoughts Every Sorority Girl Has After Formal Recruitment

In This Article:

Sorority recruitment is one of the hardest things that I have ever experienced. The long days, full hair and makeup, and constant conversations are draining. However, finding littles for your friends and g-littles for yourself is the most rewarding experience.

My tan is splochy

Gets a spray tan for recruitment, loses it by the time preference round comes. It was so worth it for the pictures though!

Wow can I go back to a normal eating schedule now

I don't know how I survived recruitment. I can't tell you the last time I had three regular meals within a day. I'm pretty sure I survived off water and the thought of food.

Finally! Time to catch up on two weeks of lost sleep.

Between the first three days of recruitment, I got 10 hours of sleep. I feel like I could sleep for days now!

How many pairs of fake eyelashes do I have hiding in my room?

I think I have five pairs of Ardel's fake lashes spread across my room. Good thing tailgate season is coming up!

Wow, I took 1000 pictures this week

100 pictures from round 1, 200 from round 2, 300 from round 3 and 400 from prefs. I literally have zero storage left.

How much money did I spend?

Between food deliveries, hair, nails and clothes... I have no money.

Oh my gosh I am so tired

Napping on the floor of the house in between rounds became a common thing. I can't tell you how many people cried til they fell asleep.

I wonder where this PNM ended up?

Well she didn't show up to our house on bid day... where is she?

I'm never wearing this dress again

I bought three dresses for recruitment and I don't think I will ever wear them again.

What are classes?

I'm pretty sure I slept through my first three classes.

My feet feel so weird not being in heels

I have walked in heels more than I have walked barefoot this week.

Is it socially acceptable to have a ponytail every day?

Now that I don't have to heat style my hair anymore, is it socially acceptable to just throw my hair in a pony every single day?

Wow, I missed my friends that aren't in my chapter.

I haven't seen anyone besides my sisters in two weeks. I wonder what my other friends look like?

How can I edit this picture?

Airbrush, facetune, VSCO... all the apps to make sure we look good.

Can I post a recruitment picture after recruitment?

Formal recruitment is officially over, but I have 1000 pictures that I want to post.

OMG I can finally unpack!

I moved into my apartment two weeks ago, but I finally finished unpacking last night.

Wow, I can actually go out in public without a full face of makeup on?

Wait... you mean I don't have to put on fake eyelashes and lip stain to go out in public?

Back to running shorts and Greek tanks instead of dresses and heels

Let's be real, the dresses and heels are only for show. A sorority girl's typical attire consists of running shorts and Greek tanks with sneakers or converse.

So this is what my roommates look like

I've been at recruitment before the sun rises, and home after it sets, it's so nice to finally see my roommates again!

I haven't seen anyone other than my sisters and PNMs for weeks.

Wow. This is what a boy looks like...

But, bid day was so worth it all.

I'm actually obsessed with our new members. They're all so cute and perfect. I'm so happy we did recruitment.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
