Politics, politics, blah blah blah. I know, the presidential election is coming up, and we need to pay attention to the impending doom that is sure to come around in November. But can we please forget all that for a minute? There is something else we need to chat about: The First Lady's karaoke skills.
James Corden's most recent segment of Carpool Karaoke featured First Lady Michelle Obama, and they rocked out to all the favorites. Missy Elliot even joined in for a little jam sesh. Put your political opinions aside, and appreciate the fact that our First Lady was hip enough to rock out. Who cares what I think about her hubby's policies, but I gained so much respect for her. Politics are tense, and consistently argued. Yet she was funny, lighthearted, and shoot dang Michelle, you go girl!
I get that politicians (and their families) are put in the spotlight, and are therefore expected to maintain a certain level of prim and proper. But you can't help but smile when the President's wife can keep up with Queen B's "Single Ladies!" So much mad respect for that woman.
Corden and Michelle didn't talk about the election, or tense policies; Michelle's personal passion of education for girls did come up, which added to my respect for her. Again, let's forget Republicans and Democrats, and let's appreciate what the First Lady does: She rocks out with James Corden and strives to bring education to young women. Our political scene needs more fun, more love, and more lighthearted spirits. I personally believe that we as a country could fix a lot of problems if we placed our world's leaders in a car with James Corden and required them to get down and boogie.
Thank you First Lady. You took the grim political scene and made me smile. You didn't start smashing in the other side, or start a war between social activists. You merely had some fun and made us laugh, you made us want to hang out and grab a cup of coffee with you. You showed us that politicians and their families are people too! Keep rockin' girl.
