An open letter to the girl who's always been single:
You are not any less of a woman for never having had a boyfriend. You are patient, you are strong, and you are beautiful. While I do believe in the power of relationships, a relationship cannot complete you. You stand on two feet, just like everybody else; you are whole.
He's coming, I promise. Before you find the right man, you have to learn a couple of things. You need to learn about yourself- what are your ambitions, your goals, the countries you want to visit some day? You need to learn about the world around you, how it works and how you matter in it. He needs time to learn the same stuff, too. You're not lonely, you're becoming prepared.
Find good friends. I don't mean friends that will just make you laugh. I mean friends who celebrate your successes, friends who forgive and encourage. If you've never had a boyfriend, it can be hard to set expectations for how The One should treat you. Having good friends will help you understand what a healthy relationship looks like. It's alright to have high standards; you deserve real love and friends can help show you what that looks like.
You're not the only one. Seriously. There's nothing wrong with you, your nose isn't too big, and your voice isn't too deep. I've never had a boyfriend either, and I'm pretty awesome. Often times, we find the best people when we aren't searching for them. Live your life, go to the party, buy the cupcake or the whole cake. Stop racing the girl down the hall. She's on her own track.
Believe in yourself. You don't need to love the color yellow, wear a C cup or fill in your eyebrows to find him. Confidence shines through your eyes and comes out with your smile. Let yourself be free to attract your own vibe. Don't sell yourself short or give up the things you really love.
Finally, don't be afraid. If you've never had a boyfriend, commitment can be scary. If not scary, then at least intimidating. It's new, no one's ever held your hand before, and you're not quite sure if you're a good kisser. Whatever you do, don't be afraid. If love is making you shrink away, it's not really love. Be ready to love him unapologetically, for you are a blessing.
