My two sisters are very close to me, and I wouldn’t change that for the world. My older sister has taught me so many things about life that I would never get to experience if it weren’t for her. She taught me how to deal with things like puberty, my first breakup, and how to fall in love with celebrities (which is a blessing and a curse). My younger sister taught me things about myself and how to be an independent, strong person. No matter how hard things might get, my little sister shows me how to be brave and be my own person. (She's also proved to me many times that being bit hurts as much as you’d think.) Thank you for being my support system, both of you, and thank you for looking out for me the way you do.
You may think you are so different and will never get along, but having sisters is the best thing you could ask for. Your sisters are the people who will never turn their backs on you no matter how many times you mess up. Your sisters are always there to catch you when you fall.
My sisters are my best friends, and I thank them for being mine every day. Yes, I steal all your clothes and get annoyed when you look at yourself in the mirror too much, but without you, I would not be where I am today. I would not be independent. I would not be as aggressive as I am because of how much you annoy me. I wouldn’t be able to love as much as I do because of how much room I have for you in my heart. I wouldn’t be able to grow up. I wouldn’t have to beg for mom’s attention (thanks for that).
No matter what happens between us, you are both my inspirations with everything you do, and I strive to be like you in so many ways. Even though at times I truly believe you and our parents are plotting against me, I still love you in ways you couldn’t imagine.
For those of you who think having sisters is a nightmare or “the worst thing ever,” just think about how different your life would be if they weren’t there. Just think about how lonely you could be. Think about the bonds and stories you wouldn’t have. You wouldn't be who you are because essentially your family shapes you as a human being in general. I would do anything for you, and I am so lucky to call you both my sisters.
I’m sorry, Jill, but you will learn to love rap music.
And Shan, even though you’re older than me, I will never stop picking on you… and I’m not that sorry about it.
