First, I would like to point out that although you are slightly taller than me, you are still my younger brother and therefore, nowhere near as wise as me, your older sister. Now that we have established that, here are some of the reasons I'm so glad to have you as my little brother, even now that you are all grown up.
You were my very first best friend and, coincidentally, my first enemy. You are the person I go to with my crazy ideas. You are my partner in crime. You are the first one to laugh when I fall down. You are the first to try and pick me up again. You are my favorite person to prank. You are my least favorite person to be pranked by. You are the one person I try to incriminate and keep out of trouble simultaneously.
I want to thank you for playing Barbies with me the same day we played in mud puddles. Thank you for watching "Mulan" with me 80 million times. Thank you for teaching me how to make s'mores in the microwave. Thank you for attempting to watch scary movies with me. Thank you for eating my leftovers ... just kidding, I hate when you do that. Thank you for letting me come in your room after a bad dream. Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for the tough love. Thank you for challenging me to be a better sister.
Even though you're younger, you have taught me a lot of things. You taught me how to wrestle for
the TV remote. You taught me forced me to share. You taught me how to
shoot a rubber band across the room with perfect precision. You taught me how
to build a bomb LEGO castle. You taught me to slide down the staircase without
Mom noticing. You taught me to care less about what people think. You taught me
that I don't always need to have the answers. You taught me how to be patient
even when I really don't want to. You taught me to remember the good things when everything
seems bad. You taught me how to be an older sister.
You make me laugh more, worry less and smile often. You make me storm with rage and laugh uncontrollably. You make my blood boil and my heart smile. You make me remember how lucky I am to have a sibling. You make me brave. You make me remember that there is someone looking out for me always. You make me proud to be your older sister.
When Mom and Dad brought you home, I took one look at you and knew you were going to be trouble. But I knew you would be my trouble, and I wouldn’t trade you for anything.
I love you, buddy.
