It's all hype and no fun.

Ahh, Summer. A time for no school, no stress, fewer clothes, fewer worries and more fun in the sun. A time that should be spent on a beach with your best friends, laughing and making memories well into the night, documenting all your adventures and tan lines on Instagram for all to see. I’m that bitter person, lying in bed, jealously looking at your Insta.

Let’s be honest, who here actually enjoys summer? I know I don’t. I just got my first sunburn of the season and it’s beginning to peel and I’m so not okay with it. So this is for everyone who catches themselves asking “is Summer over yet?” on a daily basis.

1. Your summer actually just officially started because you took those two 8-week summer classes to get ahead in school

2. You’re home. Like home-home. Like living at your parents' place for the summer home. And it sucks.

3. You’re away from most of your friends

4. The friends who stayed at school for the summer turn up almost every night and you get to watch it all unfold via social media

5. If you’re not in class or sitting at home, you’re working because we’re all broke college kids

6. You’ve started going to bed before 10:00 pm and that’s a new low in itself

7. Your mom sees you being home as the perfect opportunity to get you to drive your siblings all over the world, run her errands and pick up some extra chores

8. You can only refresh Facebook and Twitter so many times

9. Vacation? Not for you. You’re living vicariously through other people’s vacations that are documented via Snapchat

10. You’ve run out of Netflix shows to watch so now you’re re-watching shows

11. You hate the hot weather and the humidity really doesn't agree with your hair

12. You’re beginning to daydream about that statistics class you have to take this fall

13. You’re in a group chat with your friends from school and it just makes you miss them that much more

14. You have to pay to use the gym at home. And if you refer to point number 5, you’ll remember that we are poor.

15. Going to the occasional family dinner and a movie is a big night out for you

16. You don’t wear makeup and yes you have worn that shirt for three days straight now and no you don't care if it's getting kinda stinky

17. Grocery shopping is becoming a big thrill for you

18. Beach bod? More like a couch bod

19. You’ve downloaded and deleted and then re-downloaded Tinder. But the guys at home are just weird and a tad bit on the creepy side even if they’re from your school.

20. You’ve been counting down the days until you go back since the first day of summer

Hang in there guys! We’re so close to going back to our friends, our campus, our parties and our home.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
