Are you having a bad day? Maybe you are not satisfied in your job, family life, friendships, going through a tough time, or just feeling down. You feel like all you want to do is curl up on the couch with a friend, drink hot tea, talk about everything happening in life, what it means, and why. Or if you’re a guy, maybe you just want to rub some dirt on it? I still don’t understand how your species handles your issues. Whatever your situation may be, this letter is written for you.
There are going to be days when you feel like you want to give up or just crumble. We all have our off days, but I hope that you find it in yourself to not waste a day feeling sad, and instead think about all of the things to be happy about.
Take a second and just think about how many lives you have influenced. Every friend you’ve ever had, every laugh ever shared, every smile ever given. It all makes an impact no matter how big or small. Think about all of the people that you think of when you need a hug. Now reverse it and think of all of the people that think of you when they need a shoulder to lean on. It is crazy to think how much of an impact little things can make.
Every action made and every word said makes an impact on the world. Keep the words positive and the actions out of love. As Edith Wharton says, “There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”
If you are having a
bad day, lean on someone who is able to offer that kind of positivity and
remind you of what you have to be grateful for.
Don’t lean on someone who is going to sit and sulk with you and pull you
further into a raincloud.
It is so easy to sit in your sorrow or say, “I’m having a bad day,” and not do anything about it. Don’t let yourself have a bad day because you don’t deserve it! You deserve to have the best of days every day! You deserve to get up in the morning and accept that you are going to make this the best day. Decide that every morning.
A quote that I love by Henry David Thoreau, “What lies behind us and what lies ahead of us are tiny matters compared to what lives within us,” reminds me that our lives are about the journey, not the destination. The journey helps to develop who we are as individuals, and every decision we make influences who we become and who we are to the world. Remember that the grey cloud can’t last forever, but it will if you let it.
Bad days are going to happen. Of course, every day cannot be perfect. But don’t dwell on it! Put your chin up, and know that you do not deserve to be sad. Know that you deserve to be happy and every event that happens is a learning experience. Whether a good situation or a bad situation, you are always learning, growing,
