Dreams--we all have them. Most of the time, I can't remember my dreams. However, I know what I dream about. Dreams don't have to be only what you see when you're asleep. Everyone knows what they dream about, subconsciously, or so I think. Imagine your life that is perfect--perfect significant other, perfect job, perfect house. Those are your dreams.
Even things that seem impossible can be achievable. For the longest time, I didn't believe that. Every time I tried to achieve one of my dreams, it always seemed to go down in flames.
Today, I can say with my entire heart, that dreams do come true. All is takes is dedication, patience, and the idea that you really can do anything you put your mind to. Life will do the rest, I promise you.
In my past, I have always had passion for writing, dancing, and photography. For the longest time, I only saw them as hobbies, and you could imagine my surprise when it turned out it could be more. I spent my childhood and young adult life, taking pictures (of myself and others), journaling, and dancing. My grandmother says I started dancing at a very young age, and it makes me happy to this very day.
We all have those types of things that make us happy, but to do those things and be admired or looked up for it, makes it so much more. In that instance, you make others smile, or just make them happy, by just doing what you love. That is the best gift in life, in my opinion.
Dance is probably something that has always meant the most to me, and I usually only danced in the privacy of my home, or at a family event. I even wrote an essay for my GED on how I would teach someone to dance. I never really had the confidence to dance in public, until I developed one dance skill.
This skill was painful, and took a while, but it was totally worth it. It allows me to express myself, have fun, and just let loose. The first time I spun in public, was not something I could describe. I had people watching, smiling, and complimenting me when I would stop. I've taught a few people in my years, and that means even more. To have people come to you, for you to teach them what you can do.
Writing is something that has always brought me peace. There was something calming about getting things out on paper. I had always been good at writing papers in school. I never would have thought that things I wrote and thought would make it to the eyes of all my readers, because that's what is happening right now. I couldn't be more happy about that. I used to be very shy about any type of writing that I did, and would keep it all to myself. I wouldn't be the writer I am today, if I had not taken a chance and put my writing out there for readers like yourself to see.
My love for photography is probably the most important part of this. It's what encouraged me to write about following your dreams. I've always had a fondness for a camera, either behind it or in front of it. I got more into it when I started taking photography classes, and doing my own photography. I had the business, the drive, the passion, but what I didn't have was a very good client base. I gave it up, thinking that was it. I thought I gave it my best shot, and I failed. I was more wrong than right.
After losing my son, it was time to get back into the working world, and I applied at a bunch of places. I stumbled onto a Hiring Event for a photo studio. I went, but I didn't have high hopes that I would get a job out of it, but I was wrong! I work for that photo studio now, and I couldn't be happier about it.
I've had more go wrong in my life, than go right, but that's no reason to ever give up on your dreams. Go out and live your dreams.
It's never too late to do what makes you happy. Just remember: It's never too late to make your dreams come true.
