Fall la la la la, la la la la. Way down south in Florida, we sing with joy when Fall approaches. The sweltering heat turns into a bearable stickiness. The aroma of cinnamon brings comfort and joy to the heart. We can finally light up a campfire and make S'mores without getting (too badly) eaten alive by mosquitoes. If you're spending your autumn in Orlando, here's a list of things you can look forward to.
1. Tailgate season
Saturdays wouldn't be for the boys if it wasn't for football season. Win or lose.. GO KNIGHTS AND GO GATORS!
2. Hoodiezzz
The temperature drops to like 70-something degrees, which makes it totally acceptable to rock a hoodie.
3. Flannel season
You can find a flannel in almost every store window, making it easy to find one that suits your style. Most likely you'll see guys wearing flannels and Sperry's, and girls wearing flannels with cut off shorts (guilty).
4. Hurricane season is ending
We can actually roam the streets without fear of an imminent torrential downpour.
5. Tourists go home
When the tourists go away, Floridians come out to play.
6. Perfect beach weather
We work our a***s off throughout the summer so that we can finally see the sun when it won't melt us. No complaints here; we get to have fun while everyone else freezes.
7. Halloween Horror Nights
We spend 10 months out of our year prepping for Halloween because Universal has given us such high expectations. NO ONE does horror like Universal. We're blessed that Friday the 13th falls in October this year, so HHN should be LIT.
8. Fall festival
The fall fest is the perfect place for a cheap first date, or otherwise the place you go to learn you can no longer handle an hour straight of spinning rides. Nonetheless, it's worth it to do once if only for the fried food.
9. EDC
Way more epic than a fall festival is the Electric Daisy Carnival music festival that takes place in Orlando every November. Rain or shine, you can enjoy a weekend of epic lights and music.
10. Costume parties
It's not uncommon to have several Halloween parties to attend the entire month of October and even into November. Time to test out your DIY costume skills in the hopes that Katie down the hall doesn't have the same idea.
11. PUMPKIN
You can find pumpkin in every recipe, whether or not it should constitute as food. There's always that one person that takes it too far...
12. Thanksgiving
As in thanks for giving me a food coma. No shame: more pumpkin please!
13. The fact that winter is coming
In Florida, the party doesn't stop. Fall is the time to celebrate that winter will bring more festivities, and most importantly, more beach weather! I don't blame snowbirds for wanting to winter in Florida. Honestly, who wouldn't?
