With six weeks of college in the bag, there are many people I have to be thankful for. The more students I meet around campus who tell me what a difficult time they're having adjusting to dorm life, the more thankful I become for the group of beautiful girls I call my floormates.
In the beginning, we were simply four rooms with open doors, tissues and unpacked bags. Yet now, these are the girls I picture throwing graduation caps and wedding bouquets alongside of.
First we all bonded over how we spent a copious amount of time senior year binge watching series on Netflix. Some of us watched "One Tree Hill", others are die-hard "Grey's Anatomy" fans, a couple went through heartbreak during "The Vampire Diaries", and a few of us (including myself) watched all three. But no matter what we did or did not watch, we could all bond over the mutual embarrassment of finishing a season in two days.
These have also become the girls I've battled the freshmen fifteen alongside of. When spin class starts in fifteen minutes and I am still in bed doing something unproductive, these are the people I rely on to push me out the door. Nevertheless ,the unspoken rule in the dining hall will always be: if one gets ice cream, we all get ice cream.
If you walk down the Lehigh second floor hallway, you're bound to hear at least two of us laughing. Whether we are laughing about a stupid question someone asked, a picture we took the night before, or the ridiculous amounts of selfies we take within one another, we are always laughing with and at each other.
Your floormates, like mine, will be the girls who tell you when your outfit doesn't match, your dress is too short, your bad habits are getting worse, and you really need to wash your hair. My floormates constantly help in keeping me motivated, grounded, and sane. College isn't all about frat parties and beer, it is also about falling in love with the amazing people you meet along the way.
