Dogs are man's best friend. However, each breed steals your heart in different ways. In the two and a half years I have owned a chocolate lab, I'm constantly reminded on why he is my best friend.

1. They think they're small

Chocolate labs can be 70+ pounds, but they don't know that. Since they have no sense of size, these puppers will surely want to come be a lap dog.

2. Their endless amount of energy keeps you motivated

Even after taking an hour walk, chocolate labs are ready for another adventure! When you're feeling down, their happy and energetic presence might give you that extra push.

3. Kisses for everything

My chocolate lab loves giving kisses, for almost anything. Coming through the door after a long day is followed by the greeting of a 75 pound dog, and his tongue.

4. Their social skills push you to make friends

It's ridiculous how social these dogs are. If they're taken to an area with other dogs, chocolate labs will definitely go to the other dogs and make friends. This forces you to speak with other people, but you're both dog people, so what's the harm?

5. No matter what, they love you for you

Even if you have an off day and don't want to play, these dogs will wait for you. They don't give up, which is why they've become one of my favorite breed of dogs.
