Life can sometimes get very hectic. With busy schedules
filled with work, education and mind-numbing entertainment we’ve transitioned
into, on the whole, being more lethargic and less pleased with ourselves. With
this is mind here are some guidelines you should follow in order to have a more
fulfilling and healthier life.
1. Put down the phone sometimes

With more and more people becoming reliant on the Internet, it seems we have all been preoccupied with applications and texting in social
situations. This technology-based simulation isn’t restricted to younger
generations, either. It can be very beneficial to put your phones away and talk
to your friends and family. The dependence on our phones makes us more likely
to ignore small details or even whole stories.
2. Pick up a book ... an actual book

It has been a while since I've really picked up a book other than a college textbook, but I am going to start
reading books again for several reasons. Reading helps with a few things that are important for a young adult and someone who is learning. Reading does so much for us: we get mental stimulation out of it, while improving our memory and vocabulary. In reading, we also develop better
concentration and better
writing skills. However, the most important reason for me is the escape from a busy life and sometimes overwhelming schedule. It lets me delve into a world that the author creates for me, and I get to be there.
3. Get outside even if it's only for a short period of time

I've been trying to get outside more often, and not even like a hike in the forest. Maybe just in my backyard with my
dogs, or playing basketball in the park with my friends, and it has done a lot for me. My stress levels feel like they have gone down a lot. Just by taking an hour a day, I have become more stress-free and
happy. I feel healthier, as well — fresh air can do a lot for us. Sometimes it is tough to get outside, but when we breathe in that fresh air, it makes it all so much more worth it. I have also been thinking more clearly, I have been able to become more creative and analytical.
4. Start going to the gym a couple times a week

This is something that I've been hearing for awhile now, and I have started going to the gym more. I feel great doing it because it is something to "de-stress" with and become more healthy at the same time. Although cardio seems to be the mortal enemy right now, I have never felt so good after a good workout. Fitness is something that everyone should be doing, even if it is just taking a walk every once in awhile — you will feel great for doing it.
5. Have fun, do things outside your comfort zone

My parents know that I have always pushed the
boundaries a little, and I thank them for putting up with me; however, nothing changes for me! I have found that doing things outside of my comfort zone has made me a more accepting person and someone who is now willing to take chances on new things that might benefit me as a person. It could be something as big as skydiving (still on my
bucket list, don't worry, Mom!), or as small as wading a tad deeper into the water or going on a roller coaster. Get the scary part over with, and you will have loved trying it!
