A lot of times, we take for granted the things that mean most to us. Within the hustle and bustle of life, we often forget about the little things and the people that give our lives meaning. Given that it is the season to give thanks, it's made me want to look back and reflect on all of the things in life to be truly appreciative of.

1. My Health

Good health is something that so many forget to be thankful for. The ability to walk, talk, and even do menial tasks such as eat is an aspect of life that so many people dismiss from their minds. Think about the people who do not have the physical capacity to do that and put yourself in their shoes for a second. Be grateful that you can live and breathe with no problems.

2. My Education

As college students, we often joke about "dropping out and becoming a stripper" because of the level of difficulty we are exposed to in our classes and in our daily lives. Either you or your parents are paying so much money and putting so much time and energy into giving you the best possible opportunity to succeed. College wouldn't be college if it wasn't full of ups and downs; it will be worth it. Be grateful that you can learn.

3. My Home

Whether it's your home at school or the home you grew up in, be thankful for the places you've grown and matured to be the person you are today. These places have special places in the hearts of many. Despite the constant complaining about wanting home or wanting to go back to school, I'm sure we all could not imagine living in any other place. Be grateful for where you live and that you have a roof over your head.

4. My Friends

These last two are a little bit more obvious-- the people that make life worth living. The friendships we've built over the years not only have given us memories that will last a lifetime (as cliché as it sounds) but have shaped us to be into the people we are today. They pick you up when you're down and never fail to make you smile on the bad days. They will always be down to go out and do crazy things that you'll regretfully tell your kids about or the nights you stay up way too late binge watching Harry Potter movies and eat cookies. Your people have such a profound effect on you and you might not even see it yourself. God put these people in your life for a reason, never forget to thank them. Be grateful for these awesome humans.

5. My Family

Last and certainly not least is family. These really truly should be the most important people in your life. Despite the arguments, bickering, and fighting, your family is with you until the very end and you should appreciate everything they do for you every step of the way. They're kind of stuck with you, for lack of better phrase. But really, they're not only some of your best friends, but you get to share life's joys and life's pains with them. They will be with you until the day you go home to Christ and that's really something special. Cherish the little moments: Help your Mom prepare Thanksgiving dinner, yell at the TV with your Dad when his favorite team is losing, talk to your Grandparents about all of your collegiate adventures, let your sister have the last piece of apple crisp. Be grateful for the people who love you more than life, and love them back.

It's these tiny moments that I am thankful for, especially during this holiday season. I hope you too take a moment to appreciate the little things in life that make it so special.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
