Every year during school, especially around finals time, I am ready to go back home. I get sick and tired of the same routine and annoyed with the same faces and the drama that always seems to find its way into my life. Not a lot of people can relate to hearing about all of said drama, but when you go to a small school there's no way to avoid it. As much as I love my summer vacation, I miss school during the long three months away.
Here are five reasons why I want to go back to school more than I want the school year to end.
1. I get to be with my friends 24/7
I get to be with the people who cheer me up after a fight on the phone with my mom. The people who know the stress induced frantic that is finals because they are going through it too. The people who take me out of my shell and help me realize I need to leave my room once in awhile. The people who make sure I am doing my homework instead of binge watching all of my favorite shows.
2. I get to learn so many new things!
I truly enjoy learning. The moment I learn something new, as cheesy and weird as this might sound, I swear I can feel my brain expanding. Going to a liberal arts school was the best choice I have ever made. I get to learn a little of everything and pick for myself what I truly love and care about. I can pick my major knowing nothing else really works for me. A liberal arts school definitely makes my learning a lot more fun and stress free.
3. I am not home!
I mean don't get me wrong home is where the heart is. I truly believe there is no place like home. I feel loved and always accepted there. No judgments are ever passed because my family has seen me at every stage of my life. The thing is though it is really hard to live under my parents rules when no one has been telling me what to do for nine months. I had almost a year to myself where I could sleep when I wanted to, eat what I wanted to, and go where I wanted to. Then I come home and I have to ask for permission to do anything. It's a hard switch to make.
4. I get to be one step closer to my career.
I mean, we go to school to eventually get a career and when I am at school I am that much closer to accomplishing that. My parents have worked so hard to get me to America so I can get a quality education. I would be honoring their hard work if I get myself a decent career. Of course finding a decent career means getting myself through college so that I can become successful.
5. I get to see my own potential.
Every year when I go back to school I am so impressed with how much I have grown. It seems I can handle just a little more of the things that life throws at me. At school I get to see how much potential I truly have. Something that would go unnoticed if I stayed home.
Yes, finals suck, but I rather be at school!
