Dating is hard, and first dates are quite possibly the most uncomfortable things ever. These are five unique questions to hopefully make it easier and not get awkward! And, they have all been tried out by yours truly. I wouldn't steer you guys wrong!

1. Did/Do you have a nickname? How did it come about?

This one is pretty cutesy and you get to learn a little about his childhood. OR if it’s a nickname he’s earned in college like “beer smash brad” you know he’s probably not boyfriend material at the moment. Either way, you learn more about what his friends and family think about him.

2. What's your favorite place in the world?

I love this question. I’m a very sentimental person and hold places very close to my heart. There are certain places where I feel completely whole and I love hearing where that place is for other people. This will you give you a deeper insight to who he is at his core and he may say a place you’ve never been which leads to my next question….

3. What are you passionate about?

I’m all about passion. I believe it’s what feeds our soul and what keeps us sane. If he can’t come up with ANYTHING that he loves to do, then that’s a problem. Yes, we’re in college and don’t have a lot of free time but c’mon dude, you’re not even passionate about Miller Lite? I find that hard to believe.

4. What's your favorite movie of all time?

This is a personal favorite. I think that a persons’ favorite movie tells you a lot about them and their personality. An extra 10 points for naming a movie with a female lead...just saying.

5. Tell me about your mom.

Literally, if you don't ask anything else, ask this question. I’ve had guys absolutely rave about their mothers and they definitely ended up treating me 1000x better in the relationship than the guys who just said, "Eh, she’s cool." A man’s relationship with his mother is a very good indicator of how he’s going to treat you in a relationship. I ask this question on every single first date I go on and it hasn’t steered me wrong yet.
