Nowadays, it seems like all we hear is the same old songs on the radio. Sure, some of us prefer Spotify or Pandora, but most of us are tired of the kind of music that makes us fall asleep when it should be making us jump up and dance. It's time to spice up your playlists a little bit, and I have just the fix for you. Here are five international artists with the kind of music that you might be looking for to wake you up and get on the dance floor.
1. Alizée
A french singer born in Corsica, she's been big in the music industry for over 15 years and still kicking down the door. Ranging from such genres as pop, mainstream, world, rock, house and electronica, this woman continues to reach out to all ages, interests, and ethnicities with a large discography. On top of it all, she can dance better than most and pulls it off in the most beautiful clothes. My song recommendation of hers would be "J'en ai marre," or "I'm fed up" roughly translated.
2. Enrique Iglesias
This famous Spanish artist has definitely already gotten the attention of many Americans, but many have only heard maybe one or two hits played on the radio every once in a while. Nicknamed the King of Latin Pop, Enrique Iglesias started his musical career in 1995 and has been making good, romantic music ever since. He's won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album in 1997, has made in on the top 100 Billboard Charts, and wins the hearts of many with every song. My song recommendation of his would be "Duele el Corazón."
3. Giusy Ferreri
In 2008, this beautiful singer-songwriter with a uniquely deep, sultry voice took second place on the first Italian edition of the talent show X Factor. Since then, she has sold almost 2,000,000 copies of her album worldwide -- no small feat in the music industry. Beautiful, talented, and seemingly unknown to most American music lovers, she is definitely an artist that you want to know about. My song recommendation is "Volevo Te."
4. Park Jin-Young
This current Korean music icon, also known as J. Y. Park or JYP, puts a little spunk into a stereotypical Korean music industry that pops into most people's heads. His music is bouncy, modern and just the right amount of sass to hook the audience. If you don't believe me, then go check out "Who's Your Mama" and see for yourself.
5. Paul Van Haver
More popularly known by his stage name "Stromae," this Belgian musician, singer, songwriter, and rapper brings extraordinary messages and themes to catchy tunes and melodies, nearly perfecting the art of music in his own unique way. Some may call him the Lady Gaga of Europe, and his music videos surely display that kind of quirkiness. The first song I would recommend of his would be "Papaoutai."
Here's a list of five international artists to get you started on expanding your music repertoire. Now, you can add a little spicy to the same old songs!
