Some Advice For Your Final Semester

It has been a long journey to where I am today. I finished high school and went directly into college thinking it was going to be so much fun and so easy. However, when I got to college is when it hit me that college is the hardest, yet most important thing I would ever go through. It is a huge thing to go through college and realize that you're finally about to graduate. I personally did not know when time went by so fast. College is not about partying and drinking, but about how you manage your time and work hard to get the grades you need, along with the experience. With it being my first week of my final semester and a new semester for everyone else, here are a few things I've learned

1. Choose the crowd you hang out with wisely

Who do you choose to hang out with? Are you always around people who party too much, talk too much, or always find excuses to skip out on studying? Trust me, when it comes to midterms and finals, the last thing you want is a friend coming to you and distracting you from studying.

2. Go to the library

What's a library? It's that building where a lot of books are kept on shelves so you can read them or use them for research. You can also go to this particular building to study and do homework. It's a great place to concentrate.

3. Find internships and volunteer opportunities

It is never too early to find ways for experience in the field you are interested in. Your university should have a way to help you out with places you can volunteer. Some even provide internship opportunities. This will definitely look good on an application for medical school, or even when you apply for a master's program or for a new job opportunity.

4. Sometimes it's ok to procrastinate

Now don't think I'm encouraging procrastination, but sometimes it does help. When I am closer to a deadline on something I have to submit, I tend to be more focused and do better, however that shouldn't always be the case. Just do what works for you.

No matter what happens, don't give up. If you don't like your major, pick a new one. Don't worry about how long it will take to graduate because everything happens at its own time. Just work hard and enjoy it because these four years will fly by.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
