Ah yes, the first week of classes; seeing friends, crushes, favorite professors, and even the occasional lost freshman. Getting back into the groove of things, rearranging your dorm, learning who is on your floor, and having to set that dreaded alarm. However, no matter how many years you have under your belt nothing quite prepares you for the roller-coaster that is the first week of classes.

1. When you barely make it to your 8am.

You know better than to take an 8 am, but that's just how the cookie crumbled during registration week, and now your hair is paying the price.

2. When you sit down at your desk and the Professor immediately starts teaching.

As you get further into your college career you begin to realize that a syllabus is something that can be gone over in less than ten minutes, and as a result a tiny piece of your heart dies.

3. When the girl that sat beside you is being too energetic for this 8 am.

Girl, it's 8 am on a Monday... How are you this energetic?!?! Do you run on Duracell batteries?

4. When the professor wants to know something about you.

Can we just skip this portion of the class and get out early? I really don't care that Olivia likes brussel sprouts.

5. When the professor says she doesn't believe in tests.

Uh hi, you just became my favorite person.

6. But then she announces that there will be a group project.

... And you ruined it, relationship over.

7. When the professor says it's easy to earn an A in this class... And then you see the syllabus.

Don't fill me with false hope.

8. When your professor claims to understand how expensive textbooks are.

The $300 textbook you required me to have says that's a lie.

9. When you realize how much you spent on textbooks.

Sorry Mr. Pig, but I need every penny I can get.

10. When the girl in front of you keeps clicking her pen.

Put the pen down before I put it down for you.

11. When you walk into a class that's still being taught.

Excuse me while I go die of embarrassment in the corner over there.

12. When you finish your last class and it's finally the weekend.

The real question is, why is Friday so close to Monday, but Monday is so far from Friday?

May your coffee be hot (or cold if you liked it iced), your group project be short, and your semester full of memories.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
