The difference between guys and girls when it comes to first impressions.

We all remember our very first impression of somebody. Whether it's a friend, love interest or even someone we don't even know. First impressions stick, and sometimes they are crucial to a relationship. From talking to my guy friends and girl friends, it has come to my attention that first impressions can sometimes be different for the opposite sex. I'm not making a generalization here before you get out your pitchforks. From my real life experiences and from those of my friends, here is what I have discovered of first impressions: guys versus girls edition.

When girls first meet someone or just make eye contact with them it's like a bomb went off in our heads. A million things run through our minds about that person. "Are they friendly? Do they have bitch face? Why are they acting like that? Do you think they'll like me? I hope they're cool. I wonder if they like 'Finding Nemo' too." It's a weird thing, our minds and the way they function. We can't help but wonder every little detail about a person. When it comes to a possible significant other you might as well pack your bags because we are already thinking about what it's like to live together. We might even have a Pinterest board created for our future wedding and the kids names picked out. (Gabriella and Vincenzo) Don't steal those or I'll end you.

Now, with guys it's kinda different. I'm not saying they don't care as much as we do, but they don't necessarily overanalyze everything as much as we do. When a guy first meets someone, they generally give a "sup" nod and are insta-friends, sometimes for life. If they have something in common it's even better because they share a super bond that is tighter than the spandex I wear to weddings under my dresses.

When guys meet a potential mate, it's an instant attraction to their physical features. Everyone I talked to mentioned physical features before they mentioned anything about personality. Not saying that's a bad thing, that's just what is noticed first. They sometimes notice what she's doing to see what she's into to again, and create a bond. Guys are all about sharing similar interests in order to create a relationship.

What we have learned is that girls are crazy and guys like to stare, just kidding....kinda. We are all humans and have an attraction to one another in some shape or form. Our first impressions are a big deal and cannot be redone, although it can be cute and endearing when someone offers a redo for a bad first impression.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
