Oh, freshmen. Silly, silly freshmen. You guys are so cute, buying school supplies and textbooks—and full price from the bookstore, I might add. All rookie mistakes, but a lot can change in a year. You will learn, fish. You will learn.
1. "But I can't go out, I have class tomorrow!"
But, it's syllabus week. You literally do nothing. Please do yourself a favor and enjoy the calm before the storm that is your first round of tests.
2. Buying textbooks. Full price. From the campus bookstore.
Rent them or buy them used. They're going to be outdated in a few years, anyway. Don't be like Freshman Caroline and drop $300 on your Economics book.
3. Buying school supplies.
This is a joke, right?
4. Making friends in class.
You may attempt to strike up a conversation the first day or so of class, but in a few weeks you will have perfected the "Don't Talk to Me" face. And being friendly in morning classes? Forget about it.
5. Having already read your syllabus.
That's the entire point of the first week.
In all seriousness, go to class. Look over your syllabus and meet your professor. Start studying early.
