Ah, the first week of classes. Formally referred to as "syllabus week" or "add/drop," it's basically the only week of the year you seem not to have responsibilities.
During freshman and sophomore year... this was the best week of your life. Then, all of the sudden... without warning... junior year hits. The first week of school isn't as great as it used to be.
You get to class, and you immediately have to begin taking notes.
Your professor dives straight into the material after covering the syllabus for a brief moment. It's just too, too soon for it to be getting this real.
You also already have homework.
You know you've become an upperclassman when you already are assigned homework the first week of class. After the first class, you have multiple chapters of reading, multiple assignments, and all of the stress begins.
You can just feel your social life dwindling away.
As your homework load grows, you can feel your social life slipping away. There's going to be plenty of nights in to come, and you've already come to accept the fact.
Quite frankly, you already are too tired to have a social life anyway.
After you've been going to class and working all day, you're really just not in the mood to be social anyway. Maybe next time.
Junior year hits fast, and it hits hard. Fortunately, once all of the homework is done you have your friends to hang out with and complain about being an upperclassman as well. While we all wish that we could be a freshman forever, at least we have each other.
