Yoga is something that has been practiced for thousands of years. Practicing yoga is not only a great workout, but it is a relaxing experience for the body, soul and mind. There are classes with the option to gently twist and turn, stretching out your spine and back. Or there is the option to challenge yourself in a harder, more intensified and heated class environment. Whatever your favorite kind of yoga may be, there is a flow for everyone and their experience level.
When I am at home, there is the one and only yoga studio that I have been to and that I practice at. Forever Om Yoga, in Lake Forest, IL, is an amazing spot to connect with your body and sweat out the toxins you build up during the day. When I came back to school last year, I could not find the right yoga studio for me. The one I did attend was not up to par with what I was used to, and I was not comfortable throughout the classes.
After finally getting a car and complying with a yoga studio that I would give an “eh” review for, I am finally able to travel to Lansing for a studio that meets the entirety of my yogi needs. East Lansing Hot Yoga, located off Trowbridge, proved its worth after I completed the two weeks for $20 trial. Later I find out that they owned another studio, Firefly Hot Yoga, located at 118 S Washington Square, Lansing, MI. Firefly has been bar far my favorite studio to practice away from home.
You walk up a flight of stairs and into a peaceful environment where you know you are about to yoga out. This studio offers cubbies and coat hooks so you can store all of your belongings safe and in an organized fashion. You would think that this would be crammed and congested, but Firefly is large enough to where you are not running into people at all times. Plus, the studio contains a shower that is always clean and provides delicious smelling shampoos, conditioners and body wash.
The yoga studio itself is also amazing. The aesthetic that comes with the studio is calming and makes you want to yoga yourself to sleep. Candles, dim lights and a perfectly heated room moves you throughout the class. The older parts of the building show when you notice the exposed brick wall along one side of the studio. Who doesn’t love that?
This studio offers different classes for all different types of people. Whether you are in the beginning stages of yoga, can bare an intense workout, or want to swing from the ceiling in an aerial course, Firefly is the one for you! Each teacher has experience instructing these classes, and enjoys working with their students as the class goes by. They are willing to push yoga-goers to a comfortable extent while also offering alternative positions for poses that may not feel so fantastic to everyone in the room (pigeon pose, anyone?). There are always a variety of different teaching styles and ways to enjoy your yoga practice the best. Thankfully to the Firefly staff and their differentiating teaching styles, you can bet that there will be a class for you to enjoy and want to keep coming back to.
There you have it. If you are seeking a great studio that not only has one but two studios to be actively apart in, Firefly and East Lansing Hot Yoga are the places for you.
