Finding Your Best Friend In College

You all have had friends growing up. Some from when you were chubby little babies to middle and high school companions. These people were your comfort zone and you knew exactly where your friendship stood for the longest time. Now it's your first day of college and you have to leave that comfort behind and start some new friendships to enrich your college experience. Yes, this might have been scary to start over but you're sure glad you did because you ended up finding your person, soulmate, and the very best friend you could have ever asked for. Throughout the these precious four years of college you grew tremendously close and have had experiences that cannot be matched. This is the person who understands you best and makes college and all the heartbreaks, mental breakdowns, terrible professors, and finals weeks worth it. These are the stages you go through with your best friend in college:

1: Getting to know each other was a little awkward at first but you soon realized that is is a really cool person you could see yourself hanging out with. Little did you know that this ended up being your BFF Jill who's in it for the long hall.

2: After your initial meeting you instantly fell in love with each other. Enough said!

3: You go out with each other every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday . You also encourage one another to have fun and do the wildest things together. Even if that means getting a little crazy. Hey, these are memories even if you can't nessasarily remember them.

4: You take endless selfies and photos with this person. In fact they take up 90 percent of your instagram and snapchat photos

5: You're not related but everyone thinks you are. You and your best friend are so close that people automatically assume that you are with this person 24/7 or know where they are at all times. Honestly, they are probably right because your texting them in that exact moment.

6. They are the one you can tell anything to and have endless gossip talk with. They will never judge you and laugh with you about anything.

7. They are also the person you go to when you are feeling sad. They made sure to console you and cheer you up no matter what.

7. And when they get a new boyfriend, you feel a little jealous. Don't worry though they are still there for you!

8. And when the relationship does't work out you're the first one on the scene .

9. When winter break comes around and you realize you won't see your best friend for a month you have an overwhelming amount of sadness.

10. Then when they come back your reunion is epic.

11. Then you realize you have this semester and three more epic years together

12. And finally you understand that this is going to be someone who will be a part of your life forever even after college is done and it hits you hard.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
