In today’s society, being "independent" has become the new thing. Women are starting to take control of their lives, without the dire need of a man’s right hand. Women have also learned that they are completely able to get a good degree, a career, and start a life without depending on a man. For us women, this makes the pressure of finding a man a lot easier since we don’t have to necessarily look for someone to make us money and have their head on straight; we can do that all on our own. However, getting married is becoming less important than it has in the past, especially at a young age. You would look crazy today if you decided to get married at 21 years old. Now, we have learned that getting married isn’t as important as learning your independence and finding your true self in life, which can be very intimidating for men. So, when you are ready to settle down, how are you going to find a man that can handle your independent self?

Yes, men get very intimidated by strong, independent women, but that doesn’t mean he won't admire your aspirations and ability to be happy on your own. It’s very important to always be yourself and let them like you, for you. Since you’ve become such a strong person, you shouldn’t have to change for anyone, especially a man. The men that admire your qualities are the ones that will flock towards you and fall in love with your badass self. The less attention you give to them in the beginning, the better.

Men love a challenge, but not too much of a challenge. They want what they don’t think they can have; which is you. So, playing hard to get is not only fun and makes you feel good, but will get their attention and will make them crave getting to know you. It’s important that you stay in control and don’t lose your independence, as that is what has made you who you are and has given you your strength.

So, when you’re ready to find that special guy who can put up with all of you, don’t jump into the first man’s arms that come around the corner. Take a few months of looking and playing hard to get, that way you’ll be able to feel out all of your options and really make the best choice. Independent women are intimidating because men know they have to try a lot harder than usual to get a girl like you. So, it’s okay to make him work for it, especially if you think he’s the one.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
