You Can Find Beauty Anywhere You Go

I love my city and all of its flaws.

Every state has their "dangerous cities", but the job for each person that lives in the state is not to shame it, but find the beauty it has within. I live in Michigan where Detroit is considered one of the most dangerous cities in the United States. I don't deny that there are places the everyday person shouldn't go, however, a trip to Detroit is a good time. With the nightlife, sports, art, music, and history, Detroit is a beautiful city.

Nightlife

Within the many streets that lie in Detroit, there are many exciting things to do, places to go, and things to see. With places like Greektown and Motor City casino, there are many things to do at night. Lights everywhere with buildings tall and illuminated all across the city.

Sports

There are so many sports aspects in Detroit. There are amazing football, baseball, basketball, and hockey teams that make me proud to be from Detroit. Now we don't have the very best teams but we play our part. The Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings all play a huge part in the pride of living in Michigan. In the year of 2014, the Red Wings won the most Stanley Cup championships of 11 over any NHL franchise. The Detroit Tigers have also won four world series and the Lions with 4 championship wins.

Art

The other day I visited a newer addition to the art in Detroit while visiting downtown. It was nice to see all of the art across the city and take many photographs of all the beautiful pieces of artwork. The Detroit Belt, one of the many sites that day, was filled with rooms and walls of hundreds of paintings and art pieces.

Also, a big part of the history of art is the DIA, which has one of the largest and most important art collections in the U.S. Lastly, the Henry Ford museum, a National Historic Landmark is located in Detroit. It is said that the Henry Ford Museum is an amazing destination that lets one experience the big and small breakthroughs that have made our world what it is today.

Music/Entertainment

One of the many beautiful places to go is the Detroit Symphony Orchestra which is America's fourth oldest orchestra. The DSO is packed with many audiences and many tours and critics worldwide. Also, many successful musicians came from the city of Detroit, with a few well-known people like Eminem, Marvin Gay, Stevie Wonder, and Big Sean. Lastly, the Fox theater is another place to go where many concerts and shows like Disney On Ice and Sesame Street Live play. The Fox theater has hosted some of the biggest names in show business.

History

One of the biggest inventions in Detroit occurred when Henry Ford created the Ford Model T car in 1908 and went on to develop the assembly line to help production right in our very of city of Detroit.

And not only have we started old things but we have started new things and are on the rise up. The building of the new home to the Red Wings, the Little Caesars Arena is proof of that.

Now it may be easy to not pay attention to any of these factors but every state has their dangers. It's all about how we look at our towns and shouldn't judge them without looking at the beauty within.

You can find beauty anywhere you go.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
