Finals Week As Told By Kevin From The Office

Everyone's favorite time of year

It's that time a year again. Students are frantically submitting last minute assignments, working on group projects, and asking for extra credit from their professors as the semester comes to a close. Final exams usually count for around 30% (or more) of students' grades in a course, adding that much more pressure and stress to the last week of the semester. Thinking about all the work we have to do before the week begins, it all seems impossible. However, we manage to get through it each semester, even though it may be a struggle. Let's face it, we all become Kevin Malone from the Office, hard working, chilli-loving, and clutzy, during finals week. Here are the many struggles of finals week as told by Kevin.

Trying to get out of bed in the morning, thinking about all the things you need to do

Thoughts usually consist of "How am I going to get through this week?" and "I literally would do anything than go to the library right now."

Thanking your professor for a great semester even though it was hell

Little does your professor know, you can't wait to get out of that class.

Just getting to the library and already wanting to leave

Beginning to study is the hardest part.

Studying every little detail on the PowerPoints from lectures, in fear that these details might be asked about on the final

One of my final exams last semester asked what my TA's email was... no such thing as being paranoid during finals week.

Going to the TA's office hours and having to wait because the people who got there first ask a million questions

No time for this during finals week.

Realizing summer starts like... next week

Eating healthy during finals week is so difficult because stress eating is REAL. Forcing yourself to eat healthy instead of devouring Ben and Jerry's is just another struggle during this long week.

When a class doesn't make a study guide for the final exam on Google Doc

Can't we all just be friends and help each other out?

Working really hard on an assignment, but still finding a way to mess something up

At this point, you can only laugh at your mistakes.

What pulling an all-nighter feels like

...these nights usually don't end too well. Try to spread out your studying more so you're not up all night the night before an exam!

Thinking about summer days with my friends from home while I'm stuck in the library

I just need my friends and the beach instead of papers, projects, and exams.

Finally understanding a concept after hours of reading about it

That A-ha moment at 2 AM the night before an exam is the best feeling.

Getting nervous before an exam

Waiting for the professor to hand out the exam you've been studying all week feels like the longest minutes of your life.

Taking an exam and immediately having to start studying for the next one

Breaks don't exist during finals week.

Getting your final grades back and seeing you did better than you thought you did

There's no better feeling than knowing all the work you put in during finals week truly paid off!

Overall feels for the semester

Although finals week is stressful, getting through it is truly an amazing feeling and you should be proud of the hard work you put in this semester!

Happy summer!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
