Here at Christopher Newport University, we all love SpongeBob SquarePants. He graces our Yik Yak feeds, Twitter feeds, Facebook feeds, etc., at least once a day. Most of our jokes revolve around SpongeBob, and you are not really a CNU student unless you can quote the show in everyday situations. Maybe it is because we are part of the first generation to grow up with SpongeBob, everything CNU students love is nautical themed, we need some comic relief mid-homework, or we are all just too easily entertained by stupidly funny cartoons. For me, all of these are true. Whatever your reason for loving SpongeBob, he is a mainstay on the social media profiles of CNU students everywhere, and with finals approaching, it is only fitting that we let our yellow porous friend describe how we all feel.
In the weeks leading up to finals when you know you really should start studying, but it's far enough away that you can justify waiting.
When you go to the library and see people there that you have never seen before and have probably never set foot in the library all semester.
When you do finally bring yourself to open the book and then make excuses to take breaks.

When you start getting into studying and realize none of the material looks familiar.
This is basically everyone on campus the entire week.
When it gets too hard to focus.
When you have to write a final paper instead of having a final exam, and you need to start it, but can't find the motivation to start it just yet since it's not due for a couple days anyway.
So you wait until the last minute and realize 10 pages the night before was way too much to expect of yourself.
When you realize your test is tomorrow, and you haven't even looked at the study guide yet.
After you shift into maximum overdrive the night before your hardest test.

Going into the test.
When the professor finally hands you the test and you just brain dump everything.
When you finally make it through all of your tests.
When your grades get posted and you see you aced your finals ...
... Or not.
But either way, it's over, and you can go enjoy your summer.
Finals can be hard, but SpongeBob is always able to brighten people's days. Whether you are sure you've got this in the bag, or you're panicking because you, similarly to Patrick Star, have no idea what is going on, it will be over before you know it, and you can enjoy your summer. Study hard, but remember to take care of yourself and not get too stressed out too. Oh, and allow yourself a couple of breaks to watch your favorite SpongeBob episodess.
Good luck with your finals, Captains!
