The Nine Stages of Finals Week

The week that we have all been dreading since the beginning of the semester is here... FINALS WEEK. These are the nine stages that every college student goes through during this difficult time.

1. Calm Before the Storm

It's the weekend before finals start and you and your friends don’t have a care in the world. It’s the last time you are all of your friends are going to be together for three months so forget about finals lets go out.

2.PreparationIt’s Sunday night and you get all your supplies together to prepare yourself for the up and coming week of nothing but papers, studying and coffee. You grab all your notecards for vocab and your highlighter, to highlight the important material and lets be honest, our whole entire book becomes yellow.

3.Procrastination

Netflix is calling our name… you convince yourself that its okay you will only watch one episode and then you find that you have wasted three hours watching Grey’s

4.Finally opening a book

Okay enough putting off studying, you need to prepare yourself for you History final tomorrow, and those last six chapters wont learn themselves

5.Panic

You start reading through the chapters asking yourself, WHEN IN THE WORLD DID HE TEACH US THIS

6.Stress eating

Every college student knows finals week is a free pass on your diet. So load up on all your snack food because lets face it studying for finals isn’t the same unless you are devouring a family sized bag of pretzels

7.More procrastination

After about two hours of intense studying… okay more like looking over your notes while listening to Beyoncé’s new album and scrolling through Facebook, but still you need a well deserved nap

8.Buckling down

Okay time to acutally get work done, becasue your 8 page essay that is only half done is due tomorrow at 11 am

9. Completion

Yes these past couple days have been stressful, but look on the bright side you made it through to the other side, and now you have three months of stress free sunshine

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
