As many of you may already know (and if not.. then you should), finals week is just upon us. This time of the quarter consists of copious amounts of coffee, hardly eating (or stress eating), lack of sleep, and not to mention, hysteria. Since The Office is a show about a completely dysfunctional team, I figured we have all related to them somehow during this stressful period of our lives. Here are some scenarios I'm sure we have all experienced during dead week/finals week.
Well, s***.
You realize that you really can't bull**** your efforts in your classes anymore.Getting by in a class can only do so much until the last exam. Finals can either make or break your grade, which means you really need to have the material down.
Warning: I'm going to get angry a lot.
If you know you're screwed for a class, you tend to take your anger out on everything and everyone when studying. Stress leads to frustration, and you need to hash it out somehow, right?
My smart friend pisses me off sometimes.
You have that one friend in one of your classes that you usually study with. They obviously freak out so much about failing a class when they are actually REALLY smart. On the other hand, you're barely getting the grades they're getting and can't help but tell them to calm down every 5 seconds.
Asking for help, and still not knowing what's going on.
You ask your smart friend for help, but since they understand the material FAR better than you ever will, they explain in their smarty/super knowledgeable way of thinking. At this point, you need them to dumb it down. WAY down.
What I wish I was doing.
During this time, we often fantasize about the life after finals, or what we would rather be doing. Don't worry! Once you get through these couple of weeks, you can do anything you want!
WHY ISN'T ANYTHING WORKING OUT THE WAY I WANT IT TO.
After trying to re-learn some topics you were stuck on, you're probably going to get frustrated.. and you'll probably have a breakdown. It's OK, this stuff happens all the time. Better to let it out than not.
Laughter is a beautiful thing... but not in this case.
It's 2:30 a.m., you've had 4 cups of coffee, and you've been studying for roughly 8 hours. You're at that point when you reach a mode of laughing at everything. EVERYTHING. With a possible combination of tears too.
I just need to let out my feelings, OK?
There also comes a point in time when you're so stressed out you just start crying periodically throughout the day. Maybe you just haven't eaten enough? Maybe you didn't cover as much material as you would have liked to during the day? Or maybe you just know your grade is not going to be pretty when final reports come out.
I'm scarred, but at least it's over.
You're done. You've gone through two weeks of hell, taken every test, and put taking care of yourself on the backburner. Now you just relax from the amount of material you've crammed in your head and be at ease with your PTSD.
