I needed to go find her. She was so important to my life, even though I didn't know her at all. But where was she? Lucky for me, I had an idea. Alexandra had a Snapchat, which was very peculiar because she never replied to me or posted on her story. So, I would track her location from Snapchat of where she most recently was. I looked at my phone and her location said, Raven Cliff Falls, GA. I realized that was not too far from here and it was only a 20-40 minute walk. I pondered about whether I should tell her parents about where she was, but I decided not too because it would be too awkward. After all, she probably wasn't in any dangerous situation. She probably just needed some time to herself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I reached Raven Cliff Falls. I climbed to the very top and saw a girl with tears rolling down her face like the downpour of a flood. My heart thumped as I hoped it wasn't Alexandra. Sure enough, it was. I wondered what was wrong, but since I was only human, how could I predict what she was going through? I decided to try to comfort her, even if I was the last person she wanted to see right now.
"Hey Alexandra," I said softly.
"Just go away," she cried.
"I just want to help you"
"I don't even know you. Plus the world won't have to deal with me in a few minutes," mumbled Alexandra.
I tried to comprehend what was happening, but my thoughts were clouded up and nothing was making sense. Finally, one word came to my mind... suicide. I viewed the surroundings around me and came to a consensus. It was River Cliff Falls for a reason and she was close to the edge. "NO Alexandra you can't. You're a remarkable human being and everyone goes through bad phases and times. Don't do this to yourself, you're worth it!"
"Am I really? No one in my family supports me. My friends just make fun of me because of how I look. I literally have no one who cares about me and I'm not even good at anything anyway"
At this point, tears were falling down my face as well. "Alexandra, we can get you help. There's a national suicide prevention lifeline available for people. It's purely confidential and free. Please don't do this, you have so many options."
"All my life, I have felt like an outsider. I have not been able to speak, stand up to bullies, or have any self-confidence in myself. No one has liked me or appreciated me for what I have done. My own family doesn't support me and I feel like a failure day in and day out. Why should I live in a world where nothing is right?"
We were both crying and it felt so intimate as if I was her counselor. "Alexandra, we can get your family to improve their mannerisms and consider your feelings more. I am your friend and will always be a consistent supporter in your life. I promise you, we can give you a better quality of life, don't do this!" I said sharply.
"You-You-You like me? You don't even know me..." said Alexandra in hesitation.
"I wanted to save this for a better moment but I was planning to ask you out to Homecoming. I had a cringy poster and even donuts," I said timidly.
"R-R you serious? Even with how ugly I am?"
"Yes! Alexandra, it doesn't matter how you look to me. You're an amazing person and everyone should see that in you"
"Omigosh, I can't believe you actually cared that much for me. Thank you, Issac Lewton, as you have made me believe in myself" said Alexandra, wiping the tears from her face.
After all that, I made Alexandra understand she was worth it in the world and how to get help. We also talked to her parents and the counselor and got everyone on the same page. Her parents promised to improve, and so did the counselor and her brother. Alexandra wasn't feeling happy yet, although she definitely did have some self-confidence in her.
RINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! My phone kept making sounds in my pocket but I didn't want to pick it up because I knew Alexandra really needed me right now. She depended on me so I decided the call could wait. I told Alexandra to listen to the song 1-800-273-8255 by Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid and I knew this inspirational song would really help her through her tough times.
