Rose knew it was a bad idea from the beginning to invite both Yasmine and Lacey to the party.

It was the final slumber party of the summer, and when their junior year started, there would be little time for frivolous activities such as slumber parties. And hopefully, old grudges.

Yasmine and Lacey had hated each other as far back as Rose could remember. No one quite knew how the grudge started, a bit like the Montagues and Capulets. But each hated each other with a passion that was almost scary. Yasmine thought Lacey was a show-off and an airhead, and Lacey thought Yasmine was loud and pushy. Both had rings of truth, but their "pranks" had proceeded beyond the realm of pranks.

Yasmine planted weed in Lacey's locker so she was kicked off the dance team and suspended. Lacey passed around a rumor that Yasmine was cheating on her boyfriend, causing a huge breakup and then spreading all sorts of awful gossip about her. To all the others going to the slumber party, it was quite the mystery as too why on Earth Rose invited both girls.

But as everyone knows, all teenage females have one thing in common: they live for drama.

And so, phones at the ready to film a fight or tweet the newest feud, everyone packed themselves up and headed over the Rose's house.

Rose's parents weren't the attentive type, so unless the group REALLY started to party, it was unlikely they'd be disturbed. Perhaps that's where Rose got her absentmindedness from, because she couldn't see what the others did.

Carly saw Yasmine not even look at Lacey as she came in. Anna whispered to Sarah and Riley that she saw Lacey literally shaking with anger. Rose was oblivious, shrugging off her guests concerns.

Eventually, they sat in an uneasy circle, playing Never Have I Ever. Carly was more concerned than ever. Lacey seemed completely calm, but she was sitting right next to Yasmine. The latter glared fiercely.

Rose clapped her hands.

"Okay! Never have I ever...skipped school."

A few groans, and a few fingers went down.

The game continued in a similar fashion, until it was Yasmine's turn. She glared at Lacey. "Never have I ever been the worst thing to ever exist and named Lacey."

Anna sighed. "Yasmine, don't-"

There was a silvery flash, and Lacey sprang up without warning like a cat. Yasmine turned, trying to get up, but it was too late.

Lacey had stolen a knife from the kitchen, and she stabbed Yasmine. Immediately, the room broke into screams, everyone racing to the other side of the room. Leaving wasn't an option, Lacey was in front of the door.

Lacey stabbed Yasmine over and over and over again, rosy stains covering both her and the carpet, like a child's finger painting.

After she finally stopped, she looked back the horrified group. With no expression on her face, she held up one finger, and then put it down.

"One down for me. Never have I ever had a cat."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
