4 Reasons Why I am Done With School

If you're a college student like me, you may be ending the year with finals and other big projects. If you're also like me, your stress level is off the charts.

The end of the school year can be a pretty big irritation to your stress level. I know personally I have had days when I hate everyone and everything, while other days I dread the days until I have to go home. So college students, here are a few reasons why you like me, might be "about done" with school.

1. FINALS!!!

I know, that word to me was like toxic mold seeping out of a fifty-gallon barrel. Even though I am done with finals, I still had a hard time getting the motivation to study and the willpower to actually care. Don't get me wrong, I am very motivated to get good grades so I can work towards my future goals. At the same time, Netflix and pizza also sound like a good option.

2. Roommates.

To my roommates... if you are reading this, do NOT think I don't love you, because I love y'all with all of my heart! But lets be real, towards the end of a semester, roommates tend to get on your nerves just a little bit. It can be something totally small and almost petty, but with the high nerves from finals and any other drama that may show up during the end of the year, anything will get under your skin. Literally anything.

3. Drama

*Dramatic theatre voice* Let's be real, we all say that we are going to have a "drama free" semester, but something almost always happens It's almost always a boy that is the center of it all. Some boy did something stupid with someone equally as stupid, or he just was stupid in general because some boys tend to be that way. Not hating on the male gender at all, because I know that girls can be equally as stupid at times. Moral of the story, drama will usually always happen one way or another.

4. People in general.

On my campus, people irritate me to the max. Especially when they walk way too slow. Whether it be after chapel, in the stairwells, or just in general on the sidewalk, people walk way too slow. I tend to get as close as I can and use my mind to try to make them walk faster (kinda like the whole "Star Wars" thing, which I have never seen). Couples also always tend to test my patience. Since there is a rule against male-female physical contact at my school, couples restore to what has been termed "eye babies". Eye babies are basically when the guy and girl get as close as they possibly can, and gaze into each others eyes without actually touching. Yeah, it is as gross as it sounds.

All in all, I am so ready to be out of here and go home to my family and animals. As I look back, this semester was an amazing one thanks to good friends and even better roommates. Don't rush through school, sit back and enjoy the ride!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
