I would consider myself a feminist. I think that just like racial discrimination exists, so does gender inequality. If you believe that women have the same rights as men, you are correct. If you believe that women are thought to be a man's equal, great. If you think that women are treated as a man's equal, you are wrong.
Being that women have all the same rights as men but still struggle to be treated the same way, I believe the first female President has to be the best we have to offer. The President may not have all the power in the world but they hold the power of the people. The first female President could either help or hurt our chances of equal treatment. The first female President will already endure enough backlash from public because they will expect her to fail. Therefore, she needs to be able to justify her abilities. Just like the first African American President needed to be more than a stereotypical black man, she needs to be more than a stereotypical woman.
We don't need someone who barely missed spending time in prison. We don't need someone who wasn't independent and strong enough to do something about her cheating, lying husband. We don't need someone who wastes time getting in twitter fights with a man she feels inferior to. We don't need Hillary Clinton.
What we need is someone who will be great. Someone who can empower little girls to become independent women who will drive our country back to the top. We need to be patient. We need to understand that there is someone better coming. She's sitting in a classroom somewhere right now wondering if she'll be President one day. Wondering if she'll have to clean up the mess Hillary will make if she wins come November.
The first female President has to have strong values. Hillary Clinton has been called out numerous times for changing stances on huge positions. From gay marriage to abortion, she has no idea what she believes anymore. She only cares about what will get her the most votes. The first female President needs to be more concerned with the actual charities she donates to than the money she gets back from donating to those charities. She has to be more concerned with bridging the gap between the paychecks of men and women than bridging the gap between her paycheck and Christy Walton's.
Hillary Clinton isn't for The People. Hillary Clinton is for Hillary Clinton.
[Except when it comes to rape charges against Bill Clinton, then she's for him, too.]
The first female President has to be great. She has to speak for all the women who are unable to speak for themselves. She has to be a role model for little girls who need to be someone to look up to. She can't shame rape victims when it makes her and her husband look better, and then stand up for them when it gets her votes. That's not how it works, Hillary.
H. Clinton in 1975: 'I have been informed that the complainant is emotionally unstable with a tendency to seek out older men and engage in fantasizing,'
H. Clinton in 2016: You have the right to be heard. You have the right to be believed. We're with you,"
I hope that we wait for someone who deserves to be the first woman in the oval. I hope that we won't waste this monumental moment on someone who shouldn't even be allowed to run and someone who is getting votes just because people dislike the other candidate.
As a woman she should understand the bond between an unborn child and a mother. Men may not get it but as a mother and grandmother, she should.
We've waited this long, so don't settle for less than we deserve. Hillary's values change with the seasons and she won't be any different in office. We need stability and we need honesty and we need more than she can offer.
Don't vote for someone without the heart, values and honesty that America was founded upon, just because her opponent is a white man. We need change, but not the kind of change Hillary would bring.
I hope we're going to save this honor for someone better than Hillary Clinton.
