1. The Parent Trap:

The remake of the 1961 Disney film is an all time favorite. Young Lindsay Lohan twins that rekindle their parents love for each other, who wouldn’t love it? Predictable, yet comforting and somehow doesn’t get old after the fiftieth time of watching it. The nostalgic rom-com doesn’t disappoint when looking for a movie to unwind at the end of the week.

2. Clueless:

An obvious contender for many reasons. The fashion trends and Beverly Hills high school setting are undeniably perfect. On top of a main character that everyone wanted to be when they were younger. As shallow and ‘clueless’ as Cher was, her character is an idle

3. The Proposal:

Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds in a romance, yum! The flick consists of some raunchy comedy and Betty White to top it all off. An engaging story with a perfect ending.

4. Brave:

Brave is a feminist’s ideal Disney princess movie. Merida pulls her own and shows that she doesn’t need a man to come sweep her off her feet. With Scottish accents and a refreshing storyline, Brave isn’t your typical princess movie.

5. Mrs.Doubtfire:

Nostalgia x100 + Robin Williams makes Mrs.Doubtfire the feel good movie. A classic with a hilarious plot and friendly framework that centers around a father’s love for his children. An easy go to after a long, hard day.

6. The Princess Diaries:

Who doesn’t hope for their grandma to reveal that they have a royal bloodline? The fun and flirty flick with Anne Hathaway is ideal for a girlfriend movie night. Keep the night going with Princess Diaries 2, while we all patiently wait for number 3.

7. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off:

Ferris Bueller is a character that we all know and love. His easy going and fun-loving personality reminds us that not everything needs to be taken seriously. His advice to stop and look around instead of allowing life to fly past you, is an inspiring message that we all need to remember.

8. 13 going on 30:

A teenage girl’s secret desire becomes a reality when she transforms into her adult self overnight and gets a glimpse of what the future has in store for her. The charming chick-flick with Jennifer Garner is refreshing and leaves a simple message for all of us, “Be nice, do right thing, and live to be happy”. 13 going on 30 is timeless and relatable with a heartfelt love story.

9. Despicable Me:

You should kick off your shoes and stay in for the night with all three of the Despicable Me films. No, this movie is NOT just for kids, us adults can enjoy it even more! You must and will fall in love with the minions, and you might even start thinking of some crazy science to make one of your own.

10. Footloose:

Whether you pop in the 1984 or the 2011 version, you’re in for a real treat. Besides the fact that the two main characters are major eye candy, Footloose consists of some enticing dance and song scenes that will make you question why you ever stopped taking dance classes.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
