It has almost been a full month since Rocket League was released as a free to play game on Playstation Network, as well as Microsoft Windows. Released on July 7, 2015 this unique video game is a fun hybrid of the game of soccer and race cars!
The game is set in an enclosed arena. A big ball is dropped in the center and both teams speed to the middle to attempt to score the ball. Players can drive on the walls and the ceiling. There are turbo boosts all over the map that you have to drive over to use a speed boost. Acrobatic jumps and shots as you try to score the ball makes this game extremely exciting!
With a 9/10 rating from both STEAM and GameSpot, Rocket League does not disappoint.
Rocket League offers 11 body styles of cars, customizable by the player. Including: seven decals, countless color combinations, 25 sets of wheels, 36 different "rocket trails," 18 "toppers" for your car and 34 unique antennas.
This free game also offers three game modes: online matchmaking, exhibition matches, and a season game mode. The online games range from 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4. You have five minutes to score more goals than the other team. In my opinion, the online games are the most entertaining of the game modes. The exhibition matches are mostly so you can learn the fundamentals of the game. You can select bots to improve your skills before you showcase them online. The third and final game mode is called "season." Catered to your taste, you can select the team size, difficulty, season length and the amount of teams that will make the playoffs. you play against computers and climb the ranks to try to make it to the championship game.
In the first week of its release, the game was downloaded more than two million times, which was doubled to four million in only 48 hours. There is a reason that this game continues to be dowloaded and played. It is extremely addicting, and is a video game concept that hasn't really been done before.
Rocket League is a sequel, to a game that was released in 2008, titled "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars," or SARPBC for short. Rocket league, with a much shorter name has been far more successful than its predecessor.
Rocket league keeps players interested. With tons of items to unlock and the ability to level up, you will find yourself coming back to this game frequently. If you have a Playstation 4, and have not downloaded this game yet, I strongly suggest that you do so!
